When I was 28 weeks pregnant, my husband excitedly suggested that we take a family trip… to Bhutan to go hiking in the Himalayas. He promised to carry and look after our then 18-month old as well as organise a Sherpa to assist with lumbering ol’ me.

Needless to say, we didn’t go on this trip. In fact, the trip wasn’t even considered (by me) for even a second.  “Why not?” you ask.  Because this idea dismally failed to meet nearly every criteria that I use when planning a trip with my small people.

Tribeca: an elegant slice of Manhattan’s lower west side characterised by warehouse buildings turned loft-style apartments, and one of New York’s most affluent neighbourhoods. With a name that spells out its geographic location (Triangle below Canal Street), this is the home of good things money can buy: namely celeb-magnet restaurants and, from 20th April, a cool-as-a-cucumber-Martini film festival.
