When I was 28 weeks pregnant, my husband excitedly suggested that we take a family trip… to Bhutan to go hiking in the Himalayas. He promised to carry and look after our then 18-month old as well as organise a Sherpa to assist with lumbering ol’ me.

Needless to say, we didn’t go on this trip. In fact, the trip wasn’t even considered (by me) for even a second.  “Why not?” you ask.  Because this idea dismally failed to meet nearly every criteria that I use when planning a trip with my small people.
